OK, I think I can safely say that I'm having the worst year of my life.
In December last year, my mother was ill for the whole month and died on New Year's Eve.
A week later I was diagnosed with diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholesterol, and now have tablets to control all three things. I spent the first 2-3 months of the year visiting various clinics and the doctor for tests. On the plus side, I've completely changed my diet and lifestyle and have lost three stone in weight - but this has meant that few of my clothes fit me so I've had to buy a lot of new things. Normally this would be great :-), but I'm short of money at the moment so it isn't :-(.
Then my brother and I had to clear mum's house and a room in my flat for him to stay in - this involved throwing away almost everything my parents had owned because we didn't have time to make proper arrangements and I don't have a huge flat.
Then I had problems getting my car through its MOT - eventually sorted.
In April, my brother had a stroke and was in hospital for a while.
I'm in the middle of dental treatment, involving an implant. This caused a major infection, for which I've been on antibiotics for nearly a month.
Now it seems I'm to lose my job. Our department is being merged with another, and my boss has decided to move away. They aren't replacing her yet, because they want to wait for the appointment of the new department's director - and in fact they may decide not to replace her at all. But in any case, the process of replacing her wouldn't start for several months, and I don't think they'll want me hanging around.
And everything that's happened has been quite expensive so now I have an overdraft, my credit card is almost at its maximum and I've had to start a new one just to pay for the dental treatment.
Can anything else go wrong, I wonder...?
